Did you make a resolution to lose weight last month? How’s that going? Even though I know I need to, I didn’t have the heart to make another resolution that I’ll fail to keep. However, I am making a “life resolution” to start making healthier food choices, a few at a time. Now that I’m half a century old, the weight doesn’t seem to want to come off very easily. I’d like to blame it on metabolism, menopause or some other random reason, but I know why. My diet sucks. Period. Gone are the days of eating anything I want and still manage to maintain my weight. Now days, I have to give more attention to making healthier food choices and getting my butt off the couch. How about you? Are you feeling like it’s time to live a healthier lifestyle? Just thinking about exercise probably makes you shudder. Let’s be honest—exercising is boring for the most part. But you can make exercise fun. I’ve tried so many different kinds of exercise I can’t even remember them all. Since the birth of my now 13 year old son, I’ve done all sorts of exercise. Aerobics, walking, treadmill, trampoline, resistance bands, free weights, pilates, etc., etc. I get bored very easily because I really don’t like to exercise and naturally I don’t keep it up very long. What I’ve found works best for me is to just get outside and walk. I love to hike, so getting back to nature is a great way for me to get extra exercise.
